Joint Security Area (2000) is a South Korean film directed by Park Chan-wook
I just think the way it was shot was brilliant! It revloves around the north and south korea border…the tension in the flim is SO THICK you feel like gripping your seat!

My Wife is a Gangster (조폭 마누라 Jopok Manura) is a 2001 South Korean film about a female gang boss who needs to get married to fulfill her dying sister’s wishes, directed by Cho Jin-Gyu. For once, its female kicking butt:)

3-Iron (or 빈집 (Bin-jip) meaning Empty Houses in Korean) is a 2004 Korean film from Kim Ki-duk, will leave you wondering if it is possible to ever master the art of shadowing as well as it was done in the film!

Taegukgi (known as Brotherhood), or 태극기 in Korea or 太極旗 in Hanja is a 2004 film directed by Kang Je-gyu. REALLY touching narration of brotherly love, Jang Dong-gun
acted out his role so well espicially the bit when he was sort of working for the enemy…the crazed look in his eyes!!

NOW, talk about violence and religion THIS was hilarious but also very related to the teachings of Buddhism:)
This Korean action comedy, is about a band of criminals fleeing a violent gang war and hides out in a monastery. The monks in residence quickly tire of the thugs distressing behavior and manufacture a series of activities to get even. The head monk is so “zen” admist everything and he is well pretty much the “wise-guy”
Director: Cheol-kwan Park Year: 2001
i think there was a follow up but it was not that good!

Daisy (데이지) is a 2006 Korean movie directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Andrew Lau of the Infernal Affairs series…rather intriguing storyline, very very nice filming locations too! If you have seen Infernal Affairs (including II and III) you will get a sense of Andrew Lau’s direction in this one
